Link Seed partners with Harry Gwala Agri NPO - November 2019
We are very grateful to Link Seed who in October 2019 invested R90 000 in HGA. Link Seed is a member of the Limagrain Group and recently we had the privilege of taking their representatives to see a few of our projects. In attendance were Mr Frederic Savin, the CEO of Limagrain Africa, Ms Margot Andrieu, Limagrain’s Quality Assurance Manager and Mr Des Cuff COO of Link Seed. Journalists from Ilanga Newspaper also attended and this resulted in HGA featuring on the front page of the paper.
In addition to Link Seed’s financial support they have provided maize seed to two projects with the Mphithini Co-op receiving two bags and Mr Luvuyo Mbutho who farms in the Swartberg area, receiving 35 bags. Mr Mbutho and his family are part of a trust that bought their 951Ha farm in 2008 and are farming beef, sheep and maize. Their progress has been greatly hindered on account of having not received the recapitalisation money that was promised to them by the Department of Rural Development and Agrarian Reform when they bought the farm over 10 years ago. The trust however continue to persevere and benefit from the mentorship of neighbouring commercial farmer, Mr Dawie Du Plessis who has fulfilled this role since 2013. We thank Link Seed for their donation of seed to this project and offering a leg-up to Mr Mbutho and his team.
